Fliss is the Head of Apprenticeships and UK College Partnerships at Nottingham Trent University, leading on development of Higher and Degree Apprenticeships and overseeing University’s UK college partnerships. She is also responsible for NTU’s apprenticeship levy. Fliss, joined Nottingham Trent in 2005 and has held a variety of roles involving the management of key strategic projects for the University Executive Team including, the implementation and embedding of new initiatives to improve the student experience, developing NTU’s online course portfolio and designing and launching NTU’s employability award. Fliss holds an MBA from Durham University and prior to joining the HE sector, spent time at a FE college and also worked for a number of multinational companies in graduate recruitment. Fliss through her varied experience understands the importance of attracting and developing talent within businesses and has led on many initiatives at NTU driving forward new products providing flexibility and choice. Fliss draws on her varied background to lead the design of NTU’s apprenticeship portfolio.

  • Acting as the primary apprenticeship provider for Santander through a robust partnership supporting the delivery of degree level apprenticeships
  • Sharing insights on the design and contracting of the partnership and how Nottingham Trent University were able to meet the business needs of the Santander programme
  • Co-designing and co-delivering the curriculum to ensure a highly integrated course for apprentices
  • Asking the right questions of employers to ensure there is the development of a clear management and teaching infrastructure for the programme
  • Discussing the key characteristics of an effective employer-provider partnership
