Laura is Director of Academic Enterprise at Teesside University. The department integrates all the University’s business services, working across academic Schools and externally with private, public and third sector organisations. It acts as the front door for business to academic expertise and support. She is responsible for knowledge transfer, consultancy and commercialisation, degree apprenticeships, careers and employability, student and graduate entrepreneurship and business start-up, business liaison and marketing, external funding and major project development and management, and the provision of a central infrastructure to support delivery of professional services. Higher and degree apprenticeships She manages the University’s Darlington Campus, which is the University’s Centre for Professional and Executive Development. Working with local partners, the University is delivering a number of major initiatives in support of skills and economic growth, underpinned by Customer First accreditation for its business services. It has made a strong commitment to Higher and Degree Apprenticeships, and in February 2019 was awarded an Ofsted “Outstanding” grade for its Higher Apprenticeship provision.

  • Meeting the quality and regulatory expectations of the OfS and Ofsted in the design of an apprenticeship programme
  • Monitoring and evaluating the performance of programme delivery and assessing the progression of apprentices
  • Ensuring ‘off-the-job’ training meets the requirements of employers and matches key performance indicators to support successful skill development
  • Supporting course retention and clear employment opportunities for apprentices following the end point assessment
