Insp. Naomi Bolton

Naomi is a Police Inspector who has undertaken a range of operational and non-operational roles. In September 2017 due to her leadership and problem solving skills, Naomi was asked to join HR and to lead on recruitment. Naomi had no prior HR or recruitment knowledge but was in a short space of time leading on recruitment for the first ever Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA). Nottinghamshire Police were the first to recruit officers in through this new pathway, the apprentices started on the 7th of September 2018. Naomi rapidly developed a wealth of knowledge regarding the PCDA and as one of the early adopters identified a range of issues which could impact on other forces nationally.

  • Formulating a partnership between the University of Derby and Nottinghamshire Police to deliver the nation’s first Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) programme
  • Collaborating to develop a workplace learning model tailored to the needs of the police force with content and delivery designed flexibly to support high quality vocational training
  • Sharing insights on the development of the course with a focus on a continued connection between the provider and workplace to ensure progress through successful mentoring and training plans
  • Understanding the role of an academic department in designing a new degree apprenticeship course
  • Exploring lessons and solutions in the challenges of funding, validation and course delivery
